World Water Academy offers a tailormade course for WEB Bonaire
World Water Academy recently conducted its customized "Basic Knowledge of Wastewater Treatment Systems Bonaire" course aimed at strengthening WEB Bonaire employees' knowledge of the sewage system and wastewater treatment on the island.
This initiative stemmed from the need of WEB Bonaire, an organization responsible for collecting and processing sewage on the island, for providing their employees with comprehensive knowledge of the entire process from receiving sewage to processing into residuals. This was seen as an important step, given the need for multifunctional employability of employees within the organization.
The tailormade course consisted of two parts: the Basic Knowledge of Wastewater Treatment Systems and the in-depth course.
The Basic Knowledge of Wastewater Treatment Systems included five half-days of training covering topics such as the purification system, chemistry, microbiology, pretreatment, aerobic treatment, sludge treatment and calculations at the purification plant. The classes were followed by hands-on assignments that the participants performed at their workplaces.
Upon successful completion of the exam, participants received the certificate Basic Knowledge of Wastewater Treatment Systems Bonaire. For the operators, the in-depth course was offered, consisting of six additional half-days, in which troubleshooting and looking for improvements in work processes were discussed.
This tailormade course was carefully tailored to the needs of WEB Bonaire, focusing on practical applicability and improvement of operational processes.
