Interactive Workshops During the AWSISA Dialogue in Johannesburg

This november, World Water Academy made a valuable contribution to two interactive workshops during the AWSISA Water & Sanitation Dialogue: Sisterhood in Water and Data-Driven Water Management in Johannesburg. The outcome? Inspiring conversations, new connections, and opportunities for collaboration within the water sector. The presence of Pemmy Majodina, South Africa’s Minister of Water and Sanitation, reinforced the shared ambition for a future-proof and water-secure Africa.

Sisterhood in Water

During the first workshop, “Sisterhood in Water: building networks, driving change,” women from across the sector openly shared their stories and experiences. With an energetic opening by Ambassador Joanne Doornewaard, inspiring contributions from Dr. Jennifer Molwantwa, CEO of the Water Research Commission, and warm facilitation by Thobela Conco-Biyela of Durban University of Technology, an engaging dialogue emerged on the role of women in water.  The workshop resulted in a meaningful outcome: the start of an active network that will continue to foster connections beyond the conference.

Data-Driven Water Management

In collaboration with HydroLogic, the second workshop explored how data and digital technologies contribute to sustainable water management, particularly in the Global South. Ralf Linneman and Leanne Reichard shared some practical examples and insights that highlighted both the urgency and potential of digitalisation .
Not only was knowledge exchanged, but also new connections between professionals were built.
