Inception visit Flowing Forward in Bangladesh

In spring 2026, World Water Academy conducted an inception visit to Bangladesh for the Flowing Forward programme, aimed at strengthening Asset Management (AM) and Public–Private Partnership (PPP) capacity in the water sector.

During the visit, the WWA team engaged with a wide range of stakeholders, including BWDB, PPPA, CWASA, DWASA, BEZA and other partners. Through workshops, stakeholder consultations and field visits, current sector challenges were explored, and the foundation for the programme was jointly developed.

A key finding is the need to move from reactive infrastructure maintenance towards more structured, lifecycle-based Asset Management. In addition, there is growing interest in PPP implementation, while practical capacity for project development and structuring remains limited.

The programme will build on real sector cases and combines different learning methods, including e-learning, training sessions and mentoring. A strong focus is placed on practical application and institutional embedding.

Following the inception phase, the programme now moves into the development of training materials and the delivery of the first training activities.
