Reduction Non revenue water



Learning targets

Non-revenue water is one of the most serious problems for water supply companies in the world. Due to bad constructions, network design, pipeline connections, old or wrong pipeline or even illegal taps the non-revenue water increases. This costs the company a lot of money. With good operation and maintenance this NRW can be reduced. First a good leakage detection and registration of pipes has to be executed.

This course will focus on the reduction of non-revenue water by detection and monitoring leakages. First we explain the theory of NRW and show you the methods which can be used to reduce NRW. We demonstrate the way of leak detection and train you how to detect and repair leakages. The way of hygienic working during repair of pipelines gets special attention.

The use of water meters, the installation, replacement and maintenance is also an important subject in this course. We learn you how registration and monitoring can help the company to reduce the non-revenue water.

  • Monitoring and registration

Training method

Besides classroom presentations this course exists of interactive and innovative training methods, as group work, discussions, practical exercises, demonstrations, presentations, role-plays, tailored to the objectives of the training. This course includes a field visit. The course will end with an written assessment.
